Make an Origami Dove

Pentecost is right around the corner. Since the dove is often used as a symbol of the Holy Spirit, making origami doves can be a fun craft for kids on this holy day. Follow the link at the bottom of this post for instructions.

You can make several and make your own Pentecost mobile by hanging them in a room. Add some “fire” with red, yellow, and orange streamers.

This is also a good opportunity to teach youth why the dove is used as a symbol of the Holy Spirit. At the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan, the Spirit took the visible appearance of a dove. See Luke 3:22:

… and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”
