During summer time, let us learn how to take a break, turn off the mobile phone to gaze into the eyes of others, cultivate silence, contemplate nature, regenerate ourselves in dialogue with God.
Pope Francis
We need to learn how to take a break. This quote, related to Mark 6:30-34, reminds us that the call of Jesus to go to a quiet place and rest is for all of us. Our lives can be so busy and distracted that we forget how much we need rest. We become overwhelmed by the many things we need to do. Taking a break from this business helps us reset and refocus. This is one reason why God gave us the Sabbath.
Gospel related to Learn How to Take a Break:
Mark 6:30-34 (Jesus invites the apostles to find rest in a quiet place) – the for the 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time – Year B
The apostles gathered together with Jesus and reported all they had done and taught.
He said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.”
People were coming and going in great numbers, and they had no opportunity even to eat. So they went off in the boat by themselves to a deserted place. People saw them leaving and many came to know about it. They hastened there on foot from all the towns and arrived at the place before them.
When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.
Mark 6:30-34
