St. Thomas was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ. He is perhaps best known as "Doubting Thomas". When the resurrected Jesus appeared in the upper room, Thomas was not there. The apostles told him about it, but he said "Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nailmarks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe."
