Blessed Jordan of Saxony

Blessed Jordan of Saxony is also known as Jordan of Saxony or Blessed Jordan. Some call him Jordan of Saxon. He lived in the early 1200s. Blessed Jordan was born around the year 1190. He came from a noble family in Saxony, which is part of modern-day Germany. Not much is known about his parents or his early childhood. He grew up in a time when many young men dreamed of becoming knights or scholars.

As a young man, Jordan went to study at the University of Paris. Paris was one of the most important places to study in the world at that time. Jordan was a very good student. He loved learning and asking questions about faith and life.

While he was in Paris, Jordan felt a call to something greater than success in the world. He wanted to give his life to God. He was not sure at first what to do, but he kept praying and listening.

It was at this time that he met the Dominicans. They were a new group of friars who lived simply and preached the Gospel. Jordan saw something beautiful in their way of life.

His meeting with the Dominicans would change his life. Soon, he would make a decision that would lead him down a new path.

In 1220, Jordan joined the Dominican Order. Saint Dominic himself received Jordan into the Order. This was a great blessing for both of them. Jordan quickly became one of the brightest lights of the new community.
