Summary: Jesus taught that the greatest in heaven are those who humble themselves like children. To be part of God’s kingdom, people must be willing to change and become childlike in heart and attitude. Welcoming a child in his name is the same as welcoming him.
Gospel Acclamation: Remain in my love, says the Lord; whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit. (John 15:9b, 5b)
The followers came to Jesus and asked, “Who is the most important in God’s kingdom?” Jesus called over a child, placed the child in front of them, and said, “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. The one who lowers himself like this child is the most important in the kingdom of heaven. And anyone who welcomes a child like this in my name welcomes me.”
