Materials Needed
- A dozen or more jars of baby food in different flavors
- Small tasting cups
- Small plastic spoons
- Permanent marker
- Slips of paper
- Pens or pencils
- Blindfolds (optional)
- Food coloring (optional)
Setup
- Choose a variety of baby food flavors. Pick some that are easy to recognize and some that might be tricky.
- Label each baby food jar with a letter, such as A, B, C, and so on. Do not use the actual flavor name on the label.
- For each player, prepare one small cup for each letter. For example, if you have six players and five flavors, make thirty cups total.
- Put a small spoonful of baby food into each cup, matching the letter on the jar. Add a small tasting spoon in each cup.
- Set the cups aside until it is time to play. Keep the jars hidden from the players.
Game Play
- Give each player one cup for each flavor, labeled A through whatever your last flavor is.
- Give each player several slips of paper and a pen or pencil. They will write their guesses on these.
- Have everyone taste the baby food labeled “A.”
- After tasting, each player writes down what flavor they think it is.
- When everyone is done, reveal the correct flavor by showing the jar. Players who guessed correctly earn one point.
- Repeat the steps for all remaining flavors.
- Count the points at the end. The player with the most correct guesses wins.
Variations and Safety Notes
- For more challenge, blindfold the players. Have a helper feed them each sample and write down their answers.
- For another option to make it harder, add a few drops of food coloring to change the baby food color.
- Remind players to use clean spoons each time and not to share food.
- Check for any allergies before playing. Use only store-bought baby food that is safe and unopened.
