Materials Needed
- Powdered sugar donuts
- Dowels or sticks (one for each pair)
- String or thin rope
- Scissors
- Optional: blindfolds, paper towels for cleanup
Setup Instructions
- Cut a piece of string about three feet long for each dowel.
- Tie one end of the string to the dowel.
- Push the other end of the string through the donut hole and tie it securely. If the donut has no hole, use a skewer to make one.
- Prepare one donut fishing pole for each pair of players.
- Choose a clean space with enough room for players to lie down on the floor.
How to Play
- Have players form pairs. One person will be the fisher, and the other will be the eater.
- The eater lies on their back on the floor.
- The fisher holds the dowel and dangles the donut over their partner’s mouth.
- The eater must try to eat the donut off the string without using their hands.
- The first team to finish eating their donut wins.
Notes and Variations
- For a harder version, blindfold the fisher. The eater can give verbal directions to help.
- You can require that the eater’s head stays flat on the floor.
- Make sure the area is clean and dry to prevent slipping.
- Keep water or napkins nearby for those who get sugar on their faces.
- Encourage laughter and fun. The goal is joy, not perfection.
