Gather Materials

  • Get a hat. It can be any hat that fits the theme of your gathering.
  • Have small pieces of paper and pens ready.

Explain the Activity

  • Tell the group that each person will write a prayer intention on a piece of paper.
  • They can write more than one intention if time allows.

Collect Prayer Intentions

  • Give everyone a piece of paper and a pen.
  • Ask them to write their prayer intentions and fold the papers.
  • Collect the papers in the hat.

Screen the Prayers (Optional)

  • If needed, quickly read through the prayers to ensure they are appropriate for the group.

Begin the Prayer Circle

Sit in a circle and start with an opening prayer.

Pass the Hat

  • Pass the hat to the first person.
  • They will pull out one piece of paper and read the prayer intention aloud.

Pray Together

  • After each prayer is read, take a moment to pray silently or aloud for that intention.

Continue the Circle

  • Pass the hat to the next person and repeat the process.
  • Continue until all the prayers have been read.

Closing Prayer

  • Finish with a closing prayer, thanking God for hearing your intentions and bringing you together.
