Jesus, the Bread of Life: A Reflection on the Call to Serve

Today, I want to talk to you about something very important—how Jesus is the Bread of Life and how that connects to our service project. In John 6:51, Jesus says, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever.” Jesus is telling us that He is the spiritual food we need. Just like our bodies need food to live, our souls need Jesus to stay strong.

When we receive the Eucharist, we are receiving Jesus Himself. He gives us His Body and Blood to nourish us. This is not just a symbol. It is a real way Jesus comes into our lives. The Eucharist fills us with God’s love, and it helps us grow in faith. It also gives us the strength to do good things, like helping others.

Jesus calls us to share this love with everyone, especially those who are hungry or in need. When we feed others, we are sharing the love that Jesus has given us. We are living out what we believe. Just as Jesus gives Himself to us in the Eucharist, we are called to give to others.

This service project is a chance for us to do that. By collecting and donating food, we are following Jesus’ example. We are helping those who might not have enough to eat. This is one way we can be the hands and feet of Jesus in the world.

Think about this as we work on our project. Every can of food, every box of pasta, is a way to share God’s love. It might seem like a small thing, but it can make a big difference in someone’s life. Jesus gives us His life in the Eucharist, and we can give a little of our lives to help others.

Let’s work together to make this project a success. Let’s show our community what it means to live out our faith. Jesus is the Bread of Life, and He calls us to share His love with everyone.

Close the reflection with a prayer.

Dear Jesus, Bread of Life, we thank You for the many blessings You have given us. As we come together for this service project, we ask for Your guidance and strength. Help us to share Your love with those in need. Bless the food we collect, and may it bring comfort to those who receive it. Open our hearts to serve with joy and compassion. May our actions reflect Your love, and may we always remember that we are Your hands and feet in the world. Amen.
