Equipment and Materials
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- Music player
- Large poster board (one per player, minus one)
- Markers or paints for decorating
- Non-slip rug backing
Setup Instructions
- Use markers or paints to decorate each poster board to look like an island. Make them colorful and creative.
- Cut the edges of each poster board to make them round or oval, like an island.
- Cut a piece of non-slip rug backing to be slightly smaller than each poster board.
- Use the hot glue gun to attach the rug backing to the back of each poster board. This will help the islands stay in place during the game.
- Spread the islands out in the play area. Make sure they are far enough apart for players to move between them.
Game Play Instructions
- Gather all the players and explain the rules.
- Start the music and have the players walk, skip, or dance around the islands.
- When the music stops, each player must find an island and stand on it. Only one player is allowed per island.
- The player left without an island is out.
- Remove one island from the play area.
- Repeat steps 2-5 until only one player is left. That player is the winner.
Additional Notes
- Safety: Ensure the play area is free of hazards like sharp objects or slippery spots. Use non-slip backing to prevent accidents.
- Variations:
- Use Bible-themed music for a faith-based twist.
- Name the islands after Biblical places like Jerusalem or Mount Sinai.
- Instead of removing players, let them “help the captain” by controlling the music or cheering others on.
