Blessed Timothy Giaccardo

Timothy Giaccardo was born on June 13, 1896, in Narzole, a small town in Italy. His parents were simple farmers who loved their faith. They taught him to pray and to trust God from a young age.

As a boy, Timothy often went to church. He liked to serve Mass and help the priests. People noticed that he was serious about his faith, even as a child. He was gentle and kind to everyone.

When he was still young, he felt that God was calling him to be a priest. His family supported him, even though it was hard for them. In 1908, when he was only twelve years old, he met Blessed James Alberione. This meeting would change his life.

Alberione saw that Timothy had a special gift. He invited him to study and work with him. Timothy said yes. He left home and began his journey to the priesthood. It was not easy, but he trusted God would help him.

Timothy worked closely with Blessed James Alberione. Together they started the Society of St. Paul. Their idea was new at the time. They wanted to use books, newspapers, and other media to spread the Good News.

Timothy was the first priest ordained in the Pauline Family. This was a big moment for the new group. Timothy was very faithful to the mission. He helped organize the community and guide the new members.

He also helped start other branches of the Pauline Family. These included groups for women who wanted to serve God through media work. Timothy supported them with prayers, advice, and good leadership.

Even when the work was hard, Timothy stayed cheerful. He believed that God would bless their efforts if they stayed faithful. His calm and steady work helped build a strong foundation for the Pauline Family.

Timothy lived a life of prayer and work. He spent time each day before the Blessed Sacrament. He trusted in the Eucharist to give him strength for his work.

The Church recognized Timothy’s holiness many years after his death. Pope John Paul II beatified him on October 22, 1989. This means the Church declared he lived a holy life and is now in Heaven.

Today, Blessed Timothy Giaccardo is honored especially by members of the Pauline Family. He is seen as a protector for those who work in Catholic media and communication.

He reminds us that even quiet, simple lives can make a big difference. His trust in God and his work for the Gospel still inspire many people today.
