Materials Needed
- None! Just a group of players and chairs.
Setup
- Arrange chairs in a circle. There should be one less chair than the number of players.
- Have all players sit in a chair. One player stands in the middle of the circle.
- Assign each player one of four fruit names, such as apple, orange, banana, or grape.
How to Play
- The player in the middle calls out the name of one fruit (for example, “apples”).
- All players with that fruit name must stand up and quickly find a new seat.
- The player in the middle also tries to find a seat.
- Players cannot sit in the same chair or switch seats with someone right next to them.
- The player left without a seat stands in the middle and calls out the next fruit.
- Instead of naming one fruit, the player in the middle can say “fruit salad.” When this happens, all players must find a new seat.
- Play continues for as long as time allows.
Game Variations and Safety Tips
- To make it harder, add more fruit names.
- For a Bible-themed version, use words like kindness, patience, or joy instead of fruit names.
- Remind players to move safely and not push.
- Make sure the play area is clear of obstacles.
- If the group is large, divide into smaller circles to keep the game fun and active.
