- Divide the group into teams of three.
- Have each team form a small circle.
- Two members of each team stand facing each other and hold hands to form a “tree.”
- The third member squats in the middle, becoming the “turkey.”
- Choose one person to be “It.”
Game Play
- The person who is “It” stands in the center and calls out commands.
- All groups or the selected group must follow the commands.
- If someone does not follow the command correctly, they become “It.”
Commands for All Groups
- Hunter: All turkeys must switch trees. The last turkey to find a tree is “It.”
- Fire in the Hearth: All trees must change partners. If a tree cannot find a new partner, their turkey is “It.”
- Supper Time: Everyone must move to a new position. Trees must switch partners. If a turkey ends up with a former tree member, they are “It.” If tree partners end up together, one of them is “It.”
Commands for One Trio
- Pass the Potatoes: The turkey runs left, and the trees run right around the circle. The last person back is “It.”
- Stir the Gravy: Trees switch sides or become the turkey. The turkey becomes one of the trees. The last one in position is “It.” If they do it quickly, no one is “It.”
- Grandma’s Kitchen: The turkey runs away and tags another turkey. Both turkeys run around the circle to the tagged turkey’s position. The last turkey to arrive is “It.” If a tree moves, they become “It.”
