Materials Needed
- Sculpting material (Playdough, Model Magic, or similar) in different colors
- Slips of paper with words or phrases (related to the meeting’s theme)
- Table coverings (optional, but recommended if using the floor or tables)
Setup Instructions
- Divide the group into teams. Four teams with 4-6 people each works well.
- Give each team some sculpting material to use during the game.
- Provide table coverings if the teams will sculpt on tables or the floor.
- Write or print the game words/phrases on slips of paper and place them in a container for easy drawing.
- Assign each team to a corner or separate area of the room.
Game Play Instructions
- Choose one person from each team to be the sculptor for the first round.
- The sculptors from all teams meet in the center of the room. The leader gives them the same word or phrase to sculpt.
- The sculptors return to their teams and begin sculpting the word or phrase.
- Sculptors are not allowed to talk.
- Sculptors cannot use letters or numbers in their creations.
- The teams guess what the sculptor is creating.
- When a team guesses correctly, the sculptor tells them to sit down to show they are finished.
- The first team to guess correctly wins the round.
- Choose a new sculptor for the next round and repeat the process.
- Play multiple rounds, keeping track of how many rounds each team wins. The team with the most wins is the overall winner.
Additional Notes
- If using clay that might stain, make sure table coverings are used or ask participants to work on surfaces that are easy to clean.
- Younger participants may enjoy simpler words or phrases, while older groups may like more complex ones.
- A variation could involve letting the sculptor switch out mid-round if they are struggling to create their word.
- Make sure the sculpting material is non-toxic and safe for all participants.
