Materials Needed
- Blindfolds (one for each player except the shepherds)
Setup Instructions
- Divide players into groups of four or five.
- In each group, choose one player to be the shepherd. The rest will be the sheep.
- Designate a starting line for the sheep on one end of the play area.
- Designate a finish line for the shepherds on the opposite end of the play area.
- Provide blindfolds for all the sheep and ensure they are worn securely.
- Make sure the play area is free of obstacles to prevent tripping or injury.
Game Play Instructions
- Have the shepherds stand at the finish line.
- Have the blindfolded sheep stand at the starting line.
- When the game begins, the shepherds call out to their sheep, using only their voice. They cannot move from their spot.
- The sheep must listen for their shepherd’s voice and move toward it. They can hold hands with other sheep in their group to stay together.
- The first group of sheep to reach their shepherd wins the game.
Additional Notes
- Variations: For older players, add light background noise to make listening more challenging. For younger players, allow shepherds to use simple sounds like clapping or whistling.
- Safety: Ensure the play area is free of hazards. Supervise closely to prevent collisions or falls. Encourage players to move slowly and carefully.
