August 2028

Mass Readings and Free Resources

August 2028 focuses on staying ready and growing in faith each day. We hear about trusting God even when the future is unclear. We are reminded that faith is not always easy and may bring struggle or change. There is also a strong message of hope, with a glimpse of heaven and the promise of life with God. We are called to live with care, pray often, and let our lives reflect what we believe.

August 2028 is Year C in the Sunday liturgical cycle and Year 2 in the weekday cycle.

Sundays and Holy Days in August 2028

The Transfiguration of the Lord

Sunday August 6, 2028

Jesus leads three friends up a mountain. They go to pray. Suddenly His face shines bright. His clothes turn white. Moses and Elijah appear beside Him. A cloud covers them. A voice says Jesus is the beloved Son. The disciples fall down in fear. Jesus touches them and tells them to stand. This moment reveals who He truly is.

We all have moments when faith feels clear. Then it fades. Like the disciples, we can feel unsure or afraid. Prayer helps us see more clearly. The Eucharist keeps us close to Jesus. Even when things feel ordinary, His light is still there.

19th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sunday August 13, 2028

Living with faith can feel uncertain. We wait, we wonder, and we keep going even when we do not see the outcome. Abraham left his home and traveled far without knowing the destination, holding onto God’s promise through every step and delay.

This Sunday speaks about staying ready. The people long ago prepared for freedom. Jesus speaks of servants waiting for their master. He warns that the moment may come without notice. Those given much must act wisely. These readings point to steady faith lived out in daily choices.

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Tuesday August 15, 2028

Some people focus only on this life, but others look ahead to what comes after. The Assumption points to that future. It teaches that Mary was taken to heaven, body and soul. This sets her apart and gives a glimpse of what God plans for His people.

In everyday life, people hope for lasting joy and peace. This feast connects that hope to real faith. It encourages steady living and trust in God’s promise of life beyond death. Mary’s place in heaven gives comfort and direction as people move through their own lives.

20th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sunday August 20, 2028

What does it mean to stay strong when things get hard? This Sunday raises that question. Jesus speaks of fire and division. His message can separate even close families. Jeremiah is thrown into a muddy pit but does not give up.

The 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year C points to courage. Faith is not always easy. It can bring struggle. Still, we are asked to keep going. Looking at Jesus helps us stay steady. He faced suffering and did not turn away.

21st Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sunday August 27, 2028

God welcomes people from every nation. The readings speak about a wide gathering, but they also speak about effort. Jesus says the gate is narrow. Entering God’s kingdom is not casual. Isaiah pictures people coming from far away. Psalm 117 invites all nations to praise the Lord. Hebrews says correction can help us grow, even when it hurts at the time.

We do not drift into a faithful life. Small choices matter. Prayer matters. Mercy matters. We need to keep going when the path feels long. The 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time Year C asks us to live with care now, so we are ready to enter with joy later.
