March 2026 is a time to focus on Lent and prepare for Easter. It is a time for prayer, fasting, and helping others. We remember the suffering of Jesus and reflect on His love. The readings help us think about faith, hope, and new life. As we get closer to Easter, we are called to turn away from sin and follow Jesus more closely.

Sundays and Holy Days in March 2026

2nd Sunday of Lent

Sunday March 1, 2026

The Gospel for the 2nd Sunday of Lent focuses on the Transfiguration of Jesus. Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up a mountain. There, His face shines like the sun, and His clothes become white. Moses and Elijah appear with Him. A voice from a cloud says, “This is my beloved Son… listen to Him.” The disciples are afraid, but Jesus tells them not to be afraid.

This Sunday reminds us that Jesus is more than a teacher. He is the Son of God. It also reminds us to listen to Him, even when we are confused or scared. Lent is a time to grow closer to Jesus. We can do this through prayer, listening, and spending quiet time with Him. The Transfiguration shows a glimpse of who Jesus is, and it gives us hope for what is to come.

3rd Sunday of Lent

Sunday March 8, 2026

The Gospel for the 3rd Sunday of Lent is about Jesus meeting a Samaritan woman at a well. She is surprised that He talks to her, because Jews and Samaritans did not get along. Jesus tells her about “living water” that gives real life. He also tells her things about her life that only she would know. She begins to believe that He is the Messiah.

This Sunday teaches us that Jesus came for everyone, not just a few people. He knows us and still wants to talk to us. He offers us new life, even if we have made mistakes. Lent is a good time to think about what we are really thirsty for in life. Jesus is the only one who can give us what we truly need.

4th Sunday of Lent

Sunday March 15, 2026

The Gospel for the 4th Sunday of Lent tells how Jesus heals a man who was born blind. The people around him do not believe it. They ask many questions and argue about what happened. The Pharisees are upset because Jesus healed on the Sabbath. But the man who was healed believes in Jesus and worships Him.

This Sunday helps us think about spiritual blindness. Some people saw the miracle but still did not believe. Others, like the blind man, could see the truth. Lent is a time to ask Jesus to help us see clearly. We can pray for faith and for open eyes to see God working in our lives.

5th Sunday of Lent

Sunday March 22, 2026

The Gospel for the 5th Sunday of Lent shows Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. Lazarus had been in the tomb for four days. Martha and Mary are sad, but they believe in Jesus. Jesus weeps with them. Then He calls Lazarus out of the tomb, and Lazarus comes back to life.

This Sunday helps us remember that Jesus brings life and hope. Even when things seem lost, Jesus has power over death. He cares about our pain and stays close to us. Lent is a time to trust in Him more. We can turn to Him with our sadness and know He walks with us.

Palm Sunday (Passion Sunday)

Sunday March 29, 2026

On Palm Sunday, Jesus enters Jerusalem on a donkey. The people cheer and wave palm branches. They call Him a king. Later in the same Mass, we hear the story of His suffering and death. The crowd that praised Him later calls for Him to be crucified.

This Sunday helps us think about how quickly things can change. People can turn away from Jesus when things get hard. We are called to stay close to Him, even in hard times. Lent is almost over. This week, we remember His love and the cross. We get ready for Easter by walking with Him through His suffering.
