Mass Readings and Free Resources
December 2025 is a month of waiting, faith, and joy. We prepare our hearts for Jesus through repentance and hope. The readings remind us that God keeps His promises and calls us to trust Him. Mary shows us how to say yes to God with love and courage. John the Baptist calls us to turn back to God and get ready for His coming. At Christmas, we rejoice because Jesus is born, bringing peace and light into the world. The Holy Family shows us how to live with love, faith, and care for one another.
December 2025 is Year A in the Sunday liturgical cycle.

Sundays and Holy Days in December 2025
2nd Sunday of Advent
Sunday December 7, 2025
The 2nd Sunday of Advent Year A reminds us to get ready for Jesus. Isaiah tells of a branch growing from Jesse’s stump, a sign of new life and peace. God’s promise brings hope to a world that needs healing.
John the Baptist calls us to change our hearts and turn back to God. He says real faith shows in what we do. Paul reminds us that God keeps His promises and wants us to live in peace with one another. This Sunday teaches us to wait with hope, repent with honesty, and prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ.
Immaculate Conception
Monday December 8, 2025
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception celebrates that Mary was free from original sin from the moment she was conceived. God chose her and prepared her to be the mother of Jesus. Her purity shows God’s mercy and plan for salvation. This feast reminds us that God’s grace can make us new and ready to follow His will.
Mary’s example teaches us to say yes to God with faith and trust. Her humility, obedience, and faith guide us in our own lives. She is the new Eve whose yes brought hope to the world. On this day, we honor Mary and thank God for choosing her to bring Jesus into the world.
3rd Sunday of Advent – Gaudete Sunday
Sunday December 14, 2025
The 3rd Sunday of Advent, called Gaudete Sunday, is a time to rejoice. Even as we wait for Jesus, we can find joy in knowing He is near. Isaiah tells us that the desert will bloom and the weak will find strength. James reminds us to be patient and trust in God’s timing. Jesus shows that God’s promises are being fulfilled through His works.
This Sunday encourages us to stay hopeful. Joy does not come from perfect circumstances but from God’s presence among us. We are called to look for signs of His goodness and to wait with faith. Our joy grows as we remember that Jesus brings healing, peace, and new life to the world.
4th Sunday of Advent
Sunday December 21, 2025
The 4th Sunday of Advent Year A reminds us that God is near. Isaiah tells of a sign—a child born to a virgin called Emmanuel, meaning “God is with us.” Paul speaks of Jesus as the one promised long ago. In the Gospel, Joseph listens to God and chooses to trust. These readings show that God keeps His promises and asks us to do the same.
This Sunday calls us to quiet our hearts and prepare for Jesus. Like Joseph, we are invited to trust God’s plan even when we do not understand. Advent is almost complete, and our waiting turns to joy. God comes to live among us, bringing hope, peace, and love.
Christmas Day
Thursday December 25, 2025
Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus, the Son of God. He was born in Bethlehem in a humble stable, showing God’s love for all people. Angels announced His birth to shepherds, and wise men came to honor Him. Jesus came as the light of the world, bringing peace, joy, and hope. His birth reminds us that God is with us and loves us deeply.
This day fills us with joy and gratitude. We celebrate with prayer, song, and family. The Octave of Christmas continues the joy for eight days, helping us stay close to Jesus. Each day reminds us of faith, love, and peace. Christmas calls us to welcome Jesus into our hearts and share His light with others.
The Feast of the Holy Family
Sunday December 28, 2025
The Feast of the Holy Family reminds us that Jesus lived in an ordinary family filled with love and faith. Mary and Joseph cared for Him and trusted God, even in hard times. Their simple home was guided by prayer and obedience. This feast teaches us that God works through family life and that love grows through patience, kindness, and daily care.
We are called to follow their example in our own families. The readings remind us to honor parents, forgive each other, and live in peace. Like Joseph, we can listen for God’s guidance and protect those we love. The Holy Family shows that faith, love, and trust make every home a place where God is present.
