October 2024

Mass Readings and Free Resources

The October 2024 readings call us to look at our lives with honest eyes. We hear about family, trust, and the choices we make. We learn that following Jesus takes humility and a willing heart. We are invited to let go of what holds us back and ask Jesus to open our eyes in new ways. This month points us toward mercy, service, healing, and a closer walk with Christ.

October 2024 is Year B in the Sunday liturgical cycle and Year 2 in the weekday cycle.

Sundays and Holy Days in October 2024

27th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sunday October 6, 2024

We are reminded that God calls us to live in loving and faithful relationships. Marriage is shown as a union built on trust and shared life. Jesus teaches that this bond is meant to last. He also welcomes children and shows that their simple trust is a model for us.

We are invited to value family, care for one another, and live with respect. The readings point to unity, kindness, and commitment in our daily lives. They also show the gentle way Jesus walks with us in our struggles and leads us toward peace.

28th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sunday October 13, 2024

These readings ask us to look at what matters most in life. We see that wisdom, God’s Word, and trust in Jesus have greater value than money or comfort. The rich man in the Gospel wants life with God but cannot let go of his wealth. His struggle shows how hard it is to follow Jesus when our hearts cling to other things.

We also hear that nothing is hidden from God. His Word touches our hearts and guides our steps. We are invited to listen, pray, and trust. God can help us let go of what holds us back. With His help, we can follow Jesus with a free and willing heart.

29th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sunday October 20, 2024

Jesus shows that real greatness comes from serving others. He teaches that love, kindness, and sacrifice matter more than power. Isaiah speaks of a servant who suffers to bring hope and healing. This points to Jesus, who gives His life for us. Hebrews reminds us that Jesus understands our struggles and walks with us in our weakness.

These messages invite us to look at how we care for others. Jesus asks us to serve with joy and not seek praise. When we choose humility, we follow His way. God blesses this path and strengthens us when we turn to Him for help.

30th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sunday October 27, 2024

God’s people cry out, and God answers. Jeremiah shows God leading His people home with care. The psalm sings about sorrow turning into joy. Hebrews points to Jesus as the true priest who brings us close to God with mercy. In the Gospel, Bartimaeus calls to Jesus, stays strong when others tell him to be quiet, and receives healing through simple trust.

These readings guide us to place our hope in God. They remind us that God restores what is broken. They show that faith opens our eyes and helps us walk with Jesus. Like Bartimaeus, we are invited to call out, rise up, and follow Him with a steady and willing heart.
