Mass Readings and Free Resources

The readings this month move from Lent into the joy of Easter. They speak about turning back to God, asking for mercy, and opening our hearts to his grace. Jesus teaches that new life often begins with sacrifice and trust. The journey continues through Holy Week, where we remember his service, suffering, and death on the cross. The month ends with the good news of the resurrection. Christ rises and brings hope, calling us to live a new life with faith, love, and service to others.

March 2027 is Year B in the Sunday liturgical cycle and Year 1 in the weekday cycle.

Sundays and Holy Days in March 2027

4th Sunday of Lent

Sunday March 7, 2027

The 4th Sunday of Lent Year B points to God’s mercy and our need to return to him. The first reading shows how the people turned away and lost their home. Still, God did not abandon them. He opened a path for them to come back. This reminds us that even when people fail, God still calls them to begin again.

The Gospel speaks about Jesus being lifted up so people can have life. God’s love reaches out to the world through his Son. We are saved by grace, not by our own effort. Jesus also speaks about light and darkness. Faith leads us into the light. When we follow him, our lives begin to show that light to others.

5th Sunday of Lent

Sunday March 14, 2027

The 5th Sunday of Lent Year B shows us the new life God wants to give his people. Jeremiah speaks of a new covenant written on human hearts. God promises forgiveness and a closer bond with his people. The psalm asks for mercy and a clean heart. These readings remind us that change starts inside us when we turn back to God.

In the Gospel, Jesus talks about a seed that must fall to the ground before it can grow. He uses this image to speak about his coming death. His sacrifice will bring life to many. Jesus also calls his followers to serve and trust God. When we give our lives to God and care for others, new life begins to grow.

Palm Sunday (Passion Sunday)

Sunday March 21, 2027

Palm Sunday Year B begins Holy Week with both joy and sorrow. Jesus enters Jerusalem while people wave palm branches and shout with hope. They welcome him as king, but he comes in a quiet way, riding a donkey. This shows that his rule is about peace and service. The readings remind us that God’s plan was already at work.

The Passion story shows the pain Jesus faced. Friends fail him, and he is treated with cruelty. Still, he stays faithful to the Father. His suffering leads to the cross, where he gives his life for others. Palm Sunday Year B asks us to walk with Jesus this week and remember his love and trust in God.

Holy Thursday

Thursday March 25, 2027

Holy Thursday remembers the Last Supper, when Jesus shared bread and wine with his disciples and told them to continue this meal in memory of him. This is the beginning of the Eucharist. The readings also look back to the Passover, when God saved his people. The meal and the sacrifice point forward to what Jesus will do for the world.

The Gospel shows Jesus washing the feet of his disciples. This simple act teaches a clear lesson. Followers of Jesus are called to serve others with humility. Holy Thursday also begins the Triduum, the three days that lead to the cross and the joy of Easter. It invites us to remember Christ’s love and live it through service.

Good Friday of the Lord’s Passion

Friday March 26, 2027

Good Friday leads us to the cross. The readings tell the story of Jesus being arrested, judged, and put to death. He suffers rejection, pain, and loss. Still, he remains faithful to the Father. The suffering servant in Isaiah points to this moment. Jesus accepts the cross and carries the sins of many.

This day shows the depth of Jesus’ love. He gives his life so others may live. Even in pain, he trusts God and cares for those around him. The Church gathers in silence and prayer as the Passion is read. Good Friday invites us to look at the cross and remember the mercy and hope found there.

Easter Sunday – The Resurrection of the Lord

Sunday March 28, 2027

Easter Sunday celebrates that Jesus rose from the dead. The empty tomb shows that death did not win. The women come early and find the stone moved away. Soon the disciples see that Jesus is alive. This news brings joy and hope to the whole Church. Easter reminds us that God’s saving plan reaches its goal in the resurrection.

The readings also speak about new life. Through baptism we share in Christ’s victory over sin and death. We are called to leave behind old ways and live a new life with him. Easter begins a season of joy that lasts for many days. It invites us to trust the risen Lord and live with hope each day.
