May 2025: Mass Readings and Resources

In May 2025, the Sunday readings remind us that Jesus is always with us, guiding and calling us to follow him. We hear about the courage of the apostles, the loving care of the Good Shepherd, and the call to love one another as Jesus loves us. The readings teach us to stay strong in faith, to listen for God’s voice, and to share his message with others. They also speak of the Holy Spirit’s help and the hope of a new life with God, where peace and joy never end.

May 2025 is Year C in the Sunday liturgical cycle and Year 1 in the weekday cycle.

Sundays and Holy Days in May 2025

3rd Sunday of Easter

Sunday May 4, 2025

The 3rd Sunday of Easter Year C reminds us that Jesus still cares for us and guides us. He meets his friends by the sea, helps them catch fish, and shares a meal with them. This simple moment shows his kindness and how close he is to those who follow him.

Jesus gives Peter a new chance to show his love and asks him to care for others. The readings teach us to obey God, to find joy even in suffering, and to trust Jesus’ guidance. We are called to love him through our actions and care for one another. Following Jesus brings new purpose and hope in every part of life.

4th Sunday of Easter – Good Shepherd Sunday

Sunday May 11, 2025

The 4th Sunday of Easter Year C reminds us that Jesus is the Good Shepherd who knows and loves each of us. He calls us by name and promises to guide and protect us. His care brings peace and safety, even when life feels uncertain. We are invited to listen for His voice and trust that He will lead us in the right way.

This day also calls us to share His message of hope and love with others. Like Paul and Barnabas, we can show courage and joy as we spread the Good News. The readings remind us that everyone is welcome in God’s flock and that eternal life is the promise for all who follow Jesus.

5th Sunday of Easter

Sunday May 18, 2025

The 5th Sunday of Easter Year C reminds us that love is at the center of our faith. Jesus tells us to love one another as he loves us. This kind of love is shown through kindness, forgiveness, and care for others. It helps people see God’s presence in the world. The early Christians lived this love by supporting each other and sharing their faith, even when life was hard.

The readings also bring hope for the future. John’s vision of a new heaven and earth shows that God is always making things new. His promise to live with his people gives strength and comfort. When we live with love and hope, we help build the Church and show God’s joy to others.

6th Sunday of Easter

Sunday May 25, 2025

The 6th Sunday of Easter Year C reminds us that Jesus gives us a lasting peace that stays in our hearts. He promises the Holy Spirit will guide and teach us, helping us remember His words. This gift brings comfort when life feels uncertain. His peace is not like the world’s peace. It is calm and strong, even in times of trouble.

The early Church learned to trust this peace. The apostles listened to the Holy Spirit and worked together to welcome others into the faith. Their example teaches us to seek unity, stay open to God’s guidance, and live with peace in our hearts. When we follow Jesus’ words, His peace fills our lives and helps us share it with others.
