Mass Readings and Free Resources

May 2027 highlights God’s love, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the life of the Church. We see that God welcomes all people and calls us to love through our actions. Jesus sends His followers to share His message and stays with them. The Spirit brings courage, guides us, and helps us live our faith. We are reminded to stay united, trust God, and take part in His mission. The Eucharist strengthens us and sends us out to serve others each day.

May 2027 is Year B in the Sunday liturgical cycle and Year 1 in the weekday cycle.

Sundays and Holy Days in May 2027

6th Sunday of Easter

Sunday May 2, 2027

The 6th Sunday of Easter Year B shows that God’s love is for everyone. Peter sees that God does not favor one group over another. The Holy Spirit comes to all who believe. This helps the early Church grow and welcome more people. God’s love reaches beyond human limits and invites all into His family.

Jesus teaches us to remain in His love by loving others. This love is shown in actions, not just words. He calls His followers friends and asks them to care for each other. True love gives and serves. When we live this way, we bring joy and peace to others.

The Ascension of the Lord

Sunday May 9, 2027

The Ascension of the Lord Year B recalls Jesus returning to the Father while still guiding His followers. He tells them to wait for the Holy Spirit, who will give them strength. They are sent out to share His message with all people. This reminds us that His work continues through the Church today.

This feast also points us toward hope. Jesus reigns over all and stays with His people. He calls us to live in unity and peace. The promise that He will come again gives us courage. Until then, we live with trust and carry His message into the world.

7th Sunday of Easter

Sunday May 9, 2027

In most dioceses in the United States, the observance of the Solemnity of the Ascension is moved to the following Sunday, superseding the 7th Sunday of Easter.

The 7th Sunday of Easter Year B takes place in a time of waiting. The disciples stay together and pray. They ask God to guide their next step. They choose Matthias to take Judas’ place so their group stays complete. This reminds us to seek God when we make choices and to stay united as we wait.

Jesus prays for His followers in the Gospel. He asks the Father to keep them safe and help them stay one. He wants them to live with joy and truth. We are part of this prayer too. We are called to stay close to God, care for each other, and keep going in faith.

Pentecost

Sunday May 16, 2027

Pentecost Year B tells of the moment the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples. They were no longer afraid. They spoke so people from many places could understand them. This made it clear that God’s message is meant for everyone. It was also the start of the Church, as people came together in a new way.

The Spirit is still at work today. He helps us pray and guides our steps. He brings us together and gives us what we need to serve. Each person has a part to play. We are called to follow the Spirit and share the message of Jesus in our daily lives.

Trinity Sunday

Sunday May 23, 2027

Trinity Sunday Year B invites us to see how God has stayed close to His people. From the past to now, God speaks and leads. We learn that we are His children and can call Him Father. His Spirit guides us and takes away fear. We are part of His family and share in His promise.

Jesus sends His followers out to teach and baptize. He gives them a task and stays with them always. This reminds us that we are sent too. We are called to live our faith each day and help others know God. We do not walk alone, because God is with us.

Corpus Christi

Sunday May 30, 2027

Corpus Christi Year B centers on the gift of the Eucharist. Jesus gives His body and blood to His followers. This comes from the new promise He makes through His sacrifice. Long ago, people used offerings to seal their bond with God. Now Jesus gives Himself so we can be close to Him in a new way.

This feast invites us to give thanks and live what we receive. The Eucharist joins us to Jesus and to each other. It calls us to act with kindness and care. When we leave Mass, we carry this gift into our daily lives and share His love with others.
