Mass Readings and Free Resources

May 2034 focuses on love, peace, unity, and hope. Jesus teaches his followers to love each other in simple and real ways. The early Church learns to work together and welcome others. People face hard choices, but they stay together and care for one another. There is also a strong sense of hope, with the promise that God will make all things new. The Holy Spirit brings strength and courage, helping people speak and act with faith. This month shows how faith grows in daily life through love, peace, and shared work.

May 2034 is Year C in the Sunday liturgical cycle and Year 2 in the weekday cycle.

Sundays and Holy Days in May 2034

5th Sunday of Easter

Sunday May 7, 2034

Jesus gives a clear command. Love one another. He speaks to his friends before he leaves. He washes feet. He shares a meal. He tells them how to live. Paul and Barnabas travel from town to town. They strengthen small groups of believers. They appoint leaders. In Revelation, John sees a new city. God lives with his people. Tears and death are gone.

In daily life, this love takes simple form. A kind word. A patient reply. Time given when it is not easy. The Church grows in these small acts. Hard days will still come. Yet hope stays in view, like that bright city John describes. Love builds steady ground. It shapes how people treat each other and keeps faith alive in ordinary moments.

6th Sunday of Easter

Sunday May 14, 2034

We often look for calm in the middle of noise and worry, and we long for something that lasts longer than a quiet moment or a solved problem. Jesus speaks about a peace that stays, even when things are unsettled, and he promises help from the Holy Spirit, who teaches and brings his words back to mind when needed most.

The early Church faced hard choices. Some wanted strict rules. Others welcomed new believers more freely. The apostles met, talked, and sent a letter. They chose a path that kept unity. Jesus also speaks of peace that is not like the world’s peace. It does not depend on easy conditions. It remains steady and gives strength in uncertain times.

The Ascension of the Lord

Sunday May 21, 2034

Some people think leaving means absence, but others see a new way of being present. The Ascension holds both ideas together. Jesus is no longer seen, yet his work continues. He returns to the Father, while his followers begin their mission. Heaven is not far away. It connects with what happens on earth.

In ordinary life, this can look like stepping forward after guidance has been given. A teacher finishes a lesson. Students carry it out. The apostles move from waiting to action. They speak, travel, and gather people. The message spreads through daily effort. This pattern still holds. What has been given is meant to be lived and shared.

7th Sunday of Easter

Sunday May 21, 2034

In most dioceses in the United States, the observance of the Solemnity of the Ascension is moved to the following Sunday, superseding the 7th Sunday of Easter.

What does it mean to stay together when things feel uncertain? The followers of Jesus wait between events. He has gone from their sight, and the Spirit has not yet come. They gather and pray. Jesus also prays for them, asking that they remain united. Stephen stands firm, even as stones fall around him.

This time of waiting is not empty. It shapes a community that stands side by side. Prayer holds them steady. Hope points forward. Unity becomes a sign that they belong to Christ.

Pentecost

Sunday May 28, 2034

The readings explain a sudden change. The Spirit comes with wind and fire. People speak in many languages. Fear gives way to courage. A group that once hid now steps into the open. Creation itself is linked to this moment, as God’s breath brings life again.

In daily practice, this can be seen in small acts that carry energy and purpose. A person speaks up with clarity. A group works together across differences. New ideas take root. The Spirit moves in these ways. It brings unity without erasing differences and gives strength to continue the work begun.
